Once the process is completed, the Check Window will automatically exit. Steam will verify the game cache files (GCF's) - this process may take several minutes. Select the Local files tab and click the Verify integrity of game cache.

From the Steam Games Library, right-click on the game and select Properties from the menu. Please refer to the following article from Steam’s Knowledgebase and follow thoroughly all the steps mentioned:ģ - Verify the integrity of game cache as follows: Click on "Apply", "OK" and then try to run the game using the same shortcutĢ - Refresh your Steam files. Check the box "Run in Compatibility mode for" then choose Windows 7 or 8. However, there are steps you can take that may help to get the game running successfully.ġ - Please try to set the compatibility mode to an older windows os. Unfortunately this means we cannot guarantee it will run without issues on Windows 10. Total War: Medieval 1 was released before Windows 10 were available and as such was never tested specifically these Windows OS Systems. They say a few times stuff like "may not run without issues", but the game has never opened for a second. I got the following message from Sega, I already did all this stuff, but tried it all again anyway and error message is still "graphics card not supported". But I downloaded it and installed it, now what? Do I need to open it somewhere or how do I select to run the game in it rather than the version I already had? Anyway I tried opening the game again and it says the same thing. I looked around online first and several places said it's true that some older games will not play on the newer version of DirectX.

I'm in over my head with this stuff though, I downloaded DirectX 9 because it said on the Total War page that it's required. I contacted Steam about it and they sent me to this link, said to contact again if I've done all this and still not working.
